The Dance Festival

When Brian and I were in elementary school we attended Grovecrest just like our kids do now. Our dance festival used to be called May Day and the 4th graders always got to wind the May Pole (my parents have some great silent movie footage if you would like to see it), the 5th graders square danced, and the 6th graders got to perform the coveted stick dance.

The dances are a bit different, but the idea is the same. Masses of students performing dances on a huge grassy field and a bunch of parents fighting for the best camera spot. Madison performed the John Kanaka dance and Gretchen did "Walk Like an Egyptian". Malori did them all with our little neighbor Macie.
